What to look for

Aluminium needs pure argon shielding and, ideally, a spool gun or push-pull torch because the soft wire birdnests easily through a standard liner. Use 5356 where strength and anodising response matter, 4043 for a more fluid puddle on castings and 6-series alloys, and keep the wire clean and dry — aluminium is unforgiving of contamination.
